Conn Smythe Trophy Losing Team

Oilers' Connor McDavid Wins Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoff MVP

First Skater to Win Award on Losing Team Since 2003

McDavid led the Oilers to the Stanley Cup Final, where they lost to the Florida Panthers in six games.

Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid has won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. McDavid is the first skater to win the award as a member of a losing team since Jean-Sebastien Giguere of the Anaheim Ducks in 2003.

McDavid led the Oilers to the Stanley Cup Final, where they lost to the Florida Panthers in six games. Despite the loss, McDavid was a dominant force throughout the playoffs, leading all players in points (36) and assists (27). He also had 9 goals in 24 post-season games.

McDavid's performance in the playoffs was a continuation of his stellar regular season, in which he won the Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player. He is now one of the most decorated players in the NHL, having won the Conn Smythe, Hart Trophy, and Art Ross Trophy as the league's leading scorer.
