Psv Op Rapport Veerman Valt Uit De Toon In Turijn

PSV's Veerman struggles in Turin

Dutch winger fails to impress in Champions League clash

PSV Eindhoven's hopes of progressing in the Champions League suffered a blow on Tuesday as they were held to a goalless draw by Juventus in Turin.

Cody Gakpo had the best chance of the game for the visitors, but his effort was well saved by Wojciech Szczesny.

PSV also had a penalty appeal turned down in the second half, after VAR ruled that Denzel Dumfries had not been fouled by Danilo.

The result leaves PSV bottom of Group H with one point from their opening two matches.

Veerman, who was making his first start in the Champions League, was one of PSV's most disappointing performers.

The 23-year-old winger was anonymous in the first half and was replaced by Noni Madueke at half-time.

Veerman's performance was a concern for PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who will be hoping for more from his winger in the coming weeks.

PSV will need to improve their attacking play if they are to progress in the Champions League.

They have now failed to score in their last two matches and will need to find a way to break down Juventus's defence in the second leg if they are to have any chance of reaching the knockout stages.
